In today’s society, the cost of treatment has increased a lot. Many people die without treatment due to a lack of money. For this reason, under the initiative of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal Health and Welfare Committee has launched a new Scheme Called “Swasthya Sathi Prakalpa” to provide medical insurance of Rs 5 lakh per annum to those poor people for their treatment purpose. Under this scheme, it has been promised that “Swasthya Saathi” health cards will be issued to every beneficiary family in the state . This card applies to more than 600 private hospitals including all government hospitals. The government has provided treatment for more than 1900 diseases under this health insurance.

The Swasthya Sathi Scheme has several objectives that aim to improve the healthcare facilities and services in West Bengal. The primary objectives of the scheme are:

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Swasthya Sathi Scheme, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

• The applicant should be a permanent resident of West Bengal
• If any member of the applicant’s family is in government service and receives medical allowance, then the family of that person cannot apply for this scheme.
• If he/she is in government service but does not get medical allowance, he/she is eligible to apply for this scheme.

Benefits of The Scheme

The Swasthya Sathi Scheme provides several benefits to eligible individuals, including:

1. Basic Health Cover: The scheme provides a basic health cover for secondary and tertiary care up to Rs 5 lakh per annum per beneficiary family. This amount can be extended up to Rs 15 lakh through insurance mode and beyond 5 lakh to 15 lakh through assurance mode.
2. Paperless, Cashless, Smart Card Based Service: Swasthya Sathi provides a paperless, cashless, smart card based service. This means that beneficiaries can avail medical facilities without any cash payment, and the smart card captures all the necessary details of the beneficiary and their family members.
3. No Cap on Family Size: There is no cap on the size of the family. All married and unmarried people in the family will be included in this facility with their parents, and all dependent physically challenged people in the family are also covered.
4. Covers More than 600 Private Hospitals: The Swasthya Sathi health card applies to more than 600 private hospitals including all government hospitals. This ensures that beneficiaries can avail medical facilities in a wide range of hospitals.
5. Covers Over 1900 Diseases: The government has provided treatment for more than 1900 diseases under this health insurance. This means that beneficiaries can avail medical facilities for a wide range of diseases and ailments.
6. Swathya Sathi Smart card: Online Swathya Sathi Smart card is provided to each family on the day of Enrolment. Smart Card captures the details of the family members, Photographs, biometrics, addresses, Mobile Number, and SECC ID.

• Copy of Identity Proof-Like Voter Card, Ration card, etc.
• Permanent legal Residence Proof
• Registration Certificate from Medical Organization.

• Step 6: Then choose the fourth option given in the list.
• Step 7:That is Form B For Registration under the Swasthya Sathi SchemeThen a Pdf format form appears on another page of your browser.

f you have already applied for the Swasthya Sathi Scheme and received your health card, it is essential to verify your card to ensure that it is valid and up-to-date. Here are the steps to verify your Swasthya Sathi Card:

Step 3: Enter your Swasthya Sathi Card number, which is a 16-digit number located on the front of your health card.

Step 4: Enter the captcha code as displayed on the screen.

Step 6: If your card is valid, you will see a message stating that your Swasthya Sathi Card is active and valid.
