About “Samajik Suraksha” Scheme

The West Bengal government has launched a Social Security Scheme to integrate and cover the primary benefits of all unorganized sector workers from the state of West Bengal. The main objective of the Social Security Scheme is to address the plight of workers due to old age and also to provide various facilities to the workers for their child-rearing, child education, parental responsibility, the plight of the common man, and curing diseases, etc. Earlier, people under this scheme used to register their names by depositing Rs 25 per month. Now, with the help of Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, one does not have to deposit Rs 25 So the Scheme is Renamed “Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha “. The pension process for those above 60 years of age will be introduced through this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a resident of West Bengal
  • The age limit of the applicant should be between 18 to 60 years
  • All persons whose family income is less than Rs 6500 per month can apply for this scheme.
  • If the applicant gets Provident from any other government source then he will not be eligible to apply in this scheme.

Benefits

This scheme has many facilities which are listed below

Education:

Financial assistance will be provided at the following rates for the education of a maximum of two children of registered workers.

  • Rs 4000 for class 11th
  • Rs 5000 for class 12th
  • Rs 8000 for ITI training
  • Rs 6000 for undergraduate studies (arts / science / commerce)
  • Rs 8,000 per year for postgraduate studies (arts / science / commerce)
  • Rs 10,000 Per year For Polytechnic
  • Rs 30,000 annually for medical / engineering

Skill Development Training:

Consumers or their family members will be given various business and vocational training to enable them to engage in alternative economic activities, mainly self-employment. They can get this training free of cost from the West Bengal Society for Skill Development.

Health and Family Welfare:

Consumers or their family members can get financial assistance up to Rs 20,000 In case of surgery, a consumer and his / her family members will be entitled to a maximum annual financial assistance of Rs 60,000. If a consumer loses his / her working day due to an accident, he/she can be paid Rs 1000 for the first 5 days and an additional Rs 100 per day for the remaining days up to a maximum of Rs 10,000. This benefit will be given only to him.

Death and Physical Disability:

Death: Two lakh rupees in case of death due to accident. Paying Rs 50,000 for normal death.

Physical Disability: Payment of Rs 50,000 if the consumer has at least 40% physical disability. If the consumer loses sight of two eyes due to accident, loss of performance of two hands, or mobility of two legs, two lakh rupees will be compensated. If a consumer loses sight in one eye due to an accident, one lakh rupees will be paid as compensation
