About The Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana
Healthcare is a basic necessity for every individual, but not everyone can Afford the expenses of it. In India, healthcare has always been a challenge, especially for the poor and economically weaker category’s people of the society. Recognizing this need, the Government of Odisha launched the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) in 2018. This scheme aims to provide universal health coverage to the people of Odisha, irrespective of their socio-economic background.

The program aims to provide benefits to approximately 70 lakh families within the state, marking it as a significant initiative. The total funding allotted for the scheme amounts to around 1300 crores for the Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. The Odisha Government has introduced a comprehensive healthcare drive, allocating a total of 9,164 Crore.
Objectives

- To provide an additional facility of free healthcare beyond the District Headquarters hospital level, through annual health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per annum per family and Rs 7 lakh per annum for women members of the family

Eligibility Criteria
- The family must be a resident of Odisha.
- The annual income of the family should be less than Rs. 50,000 for rural areas and less than Rs. 60,000 for urban areas.
- The family should not be covered under any other health insurance scheme.
- The family should not be a taxpayer or own any property.
- The family should not have any member working in the government sector.

Here are the benefits of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, which is divided into two components:
Component-1
Cashless Health Care in State Government Hospitals
- All patients can avail of health services in State Government healthcare facilities from Sub Centre level to District Head Quarters and Government Medical College Hospital level.
- The cost of all health services will be borne by the State Government, regardless of income, status or residence.
- This will ensure that all patients have access to quality healthcare services without worrying about the financial burden.
Component-2
Cashless Health Care in Empanelled Private Hospitals
- Identified economically vulnerable families in the State can avail of healthcare services in empanelled private hospitals.
- The State Government will bear the cost of healthcare services for annual coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family.
- Women members of the family can also avail of an additional Rs 7 lahks after exhaustion of the initial limit.
- This will ensure that economically vulnerable families have access to quality healthcare services in private hospitals without worrying about the financial burden.

Enrollment Process
- Families covered under BKKY Stream I & II, RSBY, BPL, and Anatodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) are auto-enrolled under this scheme
- Low-income families without any of these cards can get benefits under BSKY by obtaining an income certificate for annual income below Rs 50,000/- in rural areas and below Rs 60,000/- in urban areas
