West Bengal Is An Agrarian State. Agriculture Is The Main Source Of Economy In The State. About 80 Percent Of The People In The State Are Dependent On Agriculture To Earn Their Livelihood. But in Todays Farmers Have To Face a lot of Various Obstacles From Time To Time In Their Agriculture. Sometimes Droughts And Sometimes Floods And Other Natural Disasters Create Huge Obstacles To Their Agriculture For Which Farmers Cannot Do Proper Farming
So The West Bengal Government Has Launched This Project For The Farmers Of Bengal, So That They Do Not Have To Face Difficulty Even If Their Crops Are Ruined Due To Such Calamities Like Floods, Droughts, Etc. Through This Project, All affected farmers whose agriculture has been affected/ruined by natural calamities Will Get Financial Assistance From The West Bengal Government. By Which The Farmers Of The State Of West Bengal Will Be Able To Successfully Meet The General Needs Of Their Families
Objective Of The Scheme
- To Provide Grain Protection For The Farmers
- To Provide Financial Assistance To Farmers In Case Of Various Natural Calamities And Other Disasters So That They Do Not Become Helpless.
- If The Farmers Are Not Able To Meet Their Basic Needs Due To The Disaster, Sometimes They Mistakenly Decide To End Their Lives Due To The Pressure And Responsibilities On Their Head, So This Project Will Help To Reduce The Farmer Mortality Rate In The State.

- The Applicant Must Be A Resident Of The State Of West Bengal.
- The Applicant Must Be A Farmer
- The Main Source Of Income Of The Applicant Should Be Agriculture
- No Age Limit Is Required For The Applicant
- Farmers Will Get The Benefit Of This Project Only If Their Crops Are Damaged Due To Any Natural Calamity Or Natural Disasters
Benefits
Through this scheme, all the farmers in West Bengal, whose crops have been severely damaged due to adverse weather conditions, will be provided crop insurance by the Government of West Bengal for crop compensation, the amount given in insurance will be based on hectare
Which crops will be compensated?
Compensation will be given to all the following listed crops
- Potato, Wheat, Gram, Lentil, Mustard, Khesari and Maize, Boro Paddy ,Moong, Til, Groundnut and Sugarcane (we are not sure )

How to Apply
The State Government and the Insurance Companies make wide publicity about the Scheme well ahead in each season. Farmers have to visit the village level camps organized by the IA or the Block level offices of the Agriculture Department along with all the requisite documents like Voter Card, Land documents and Bank account details, etc., and apply in the prescribed form or people can also apply for this scheme through BSB Mobile App which is available in play Store

- on the page select your voter ID card, season and year and click on the check button
- here you can see your name, land report, assured insurance sum, etc here you can download your insurance certificate
download the certificate and open it, here your application id is given, copy the application id
then you again enter the website click on the application status option
and paste your application id, this way you will know your Bangla shasya bima application status
